When you are taking pictures in the forest you have so many places you can use. There are tree trunks, like this one where you can style the family around. Also you can let them stand on a fallen tree trunk, or in between some bushes. The list is endless. Use the leaves from the tree for an interesting picture. Or place them in the foreground.

The forest will give you a lot of interest because of all the different textures! 

When you are taking pictures in the forest you need to make shore your exposure and diafragma are on point. The forest is darker than open ground. So you need to check if everything is still right. Because you have big differences in light and shadow you might use it in your advantage. Highlighting your subject by focussing on them. 

The photo on the left shows how you can highlight your subject. The picture above shows you that the background is lighter that the front, but that gives them a pop!
