When this couple contacted me they already had something specific in mind; a fun pregnancy photoshoot. Except they didn’t know how. We started brainstorming and one of the things they said that they wanted something colorful and bright.
That’s when we started to think about holi powder. A colorful powder that is traditionally used in India during holi festival.
We started with the other ideas first because we were expecting that the powder would create a mess. They loved the idea of incorporating African clothing due to the impending move to Ghana.
Finally after finishing with the other, more traditional ideas that we had, we started the fun part. They just started throwing different colors at each other and it was so much fun. This definitely shows in the pictures!
Holi powder is made with cornstarch and food save dye. It most likely will come out of your clothes but be aware that it can stain. So if you want to do a shoot like this be aware that you don’t wear your best clothes!
